I just saw this article on MSN.com... about the 10 Coolest Jobs in the World and VoiceActors only just made the list at number ten. Which prompted me to do my own analysis. What jobs could possibly be cooler or more fun than voice work? Well, it turns out, none. At least not for me.
From the MSN Careers article, I present their list, my perspective:
10 Jobs Cooler Than Yours (or so they think…)
1. Cruise director. Okay, so you get to to travel the world on a… Continue

Thought this would be a fun way to demonstrate WHY the "performance" tax would be a bad thing.
Of course I'm seeing A LOT of new News Talk stations coming.
Start warming up the pipes people!

This is the time of year I go through my garage and closets and sort through the accumulation of the past year. I'm brutal. Things I haven't used or no longer fit are donated to charity. Sometimes I have a garage sale. I'm left with a more streamlined, tidy existence (at least for a while), and maybe a little extra cash.
Cleaning out my head is harder. I have quite an accumulation in there this year. Clearing space for new ideas and finding new ways to approach old issues is always a… Continue

My new Studio with Recording Booth is finally starting to take shape. I'm including a couple preliminary pics. I'm just waiting on my Acoustic Foam to show up and my new Effects racks. I apologize for the quality of the pics but I took it with my cellphone and its not that great! lol.
Here I setup the basics of the booth, I have a Behringer Xenyx1202FX mixer, which will work in tandem with the Studio mixer board, and a Flat Panel Touch screen. I… Continue

When was the last time you went to a movie in the middle of a work week, in the middle of day, for no other reason than you wanted to?
Now, if you work for someone else – doing something like this could cause some problems. But it you are self-employed, it might be something to consider.
Today (Thursday) at 11:55 a.m. I forwarded our phones to the answering service and Jim and I left the VoiceActing Academy and went to the movies. We saw… Continue

My lil best buddy Emma is graduating from kindergarten today and I couldn't be prouder. It does make me feel older but, I'm bursting with joy for her. Our second child will be here in late September (Ben Fisher Blankenship)-(we'll call him Fisher)...and the excitement is building as we prepare his space and a new space for Emma. Business is slow right now...but I'm still feeling successful when I look at Emma. Thank God for kids.

This is too good NOT to share with you all!
Apparently I'm better at Character Voices than I thought. The Character demo I have posted is 100% me, all me, no one but me. But according to Voice123 their not! This is what I received in my email this afternoon...
I wrote them back to let them know that they are all me...nothing but me...100% me!
Wow if I can fool the "So-called" experts...I… Continue

What a strange business this is...got a request to do an FDR impression for ESPN. (like that comes up - ever?) If you're watching Sunday Night Baseball on 5/24 - it's a segment where FDR sends a letter to the commissioner of baseball.

I'm currently working on an assortment of demos that I hope to share soon and get some feedback on. The days are passing fast and the little time I have in between my studies I am trying to record and prepare for my trip to LA. Gotta stay positive and charged.

Ok... I've had Maxwell for over a year, and these past months had given me some insight as to why it's better to have a Smart (as opposed to other cars)
My top ten list
(in no particular order):
10) Parking...Yesterday I pulled smoothly into a space a Mini Cooper passed up.
9) Gas mileage... I've had it for over a year, have driven over 10,650 miles, and I just filled the tank for the 30th time. Heh.
8) Great way to meet people... I… Continue

The Voice Employment Office
Arrgh! How can I get these voices to shut up??
Some days it seems those voices in your head gnaw at you constantly with wonderful little insights like, “Why did you make that mistake, you idiot? What’s wrong with you?” Or, “Don’t even try that audition, they won’t like you anyway – you really aren’t that good - you don’t want to embarrass yourself, do you?” Or, the ever-popular, “You are never… Continue
