I'm new to VO work. I am NOT new to radio announcing or on-air broadcasting. As I make this transition from previous radio voice talent work to VO/acting work, I am running into the typical roadblocks associated with breaking into career fields that are quite competitive. Some of the roadblocks for noobs like myself are:

1 - Getting current working VO talents to break down the process of actually entering the field and finding actual work. ( we new-comers all realize the reluctance to… Continue

Agents, etc.

I keep posting here in hopes of gleaning some of the indie wisdom that I KNOW lurks around these murky chambers. My NEW question for everyone is this:

Do I, as a new comer, need an agent to find me work or simply do all the legwork myself and pocket the 10% for things like,, rent...sundries....?

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend loads of time on a movie set here in Nashville and have been called back for another stint as a background extra...I know, I… Continue

Collaborative efforts

Just finished a pair of poems for a collaborative arts book just published and released to OvationTV. No money in it, but at least they wanted my work....I suppose it's a start!

The pieces are on my homepage here on the lower left margin:

Have any of you here worked with another artist/talent in your years in the indy? How have your style differences clashed with or complimented one another? I think it's a great idea!

Hello all.

I am new to the whole VO universe and am also determined to find a way to earn a small living doing this type of work. After a bizarre year of loss and bewilderment, I am starting life over again at 41 and am seeking a mentor or guide to finding my way on this path. I have a strong voice that decades of people have said I should use in this field. Yes, I have done on-air personality work and simple broadcast spots for local businesses, yet I am truly needing an 'IN' to the… Continue

Scott. I've seen all your questions and answers for many of them can be found on . The people there are a friendly, open bunch and I'm sure chatting with them along with trawling through the archives would be of benefit.

Best wishes

Hea, Scott Great to be hangin' with someone with a background in radio. Kinda a life long dream for me-got a degree in radio broadcasting a year ago only to find out that path is "a lark" at the moment. I'm really enjoying the voice over career. Mostly still learning!! But much more potential with voiceovers
