George it was a pleasure to meet you, you are a wealth of information, and your baby daughter is so precious. Enjoy fatherhood every minute you get, my baby is now in high school and I dread the day she will decide to fly solo.
I will email you separately before Tuesday to discuss your request for VOICE 2010.
Hi George, hope you're well! I put a message on the forum and John Taylor told me to get in touch with you cos you might be able to point me to the right direction. I'd like to go on a sound engineering course in Los Angeles but I can only find long courses (9 months/2 years) on the internet. Do you know if there's a shorter course, ie 6 weeks to 2 months? I'm interested in a complete audio eng course not just for my voice overs, I'd like to become a sound whiz! many thanks for your help! Laura
Hey George: Congratulations on the new baby! Joe Cipriano recommended I contact you after I asked him the following questions:
"After viewing your studio video I'm just wondering if you would mind providing any suggestions regarding the specs for a window we're getting ready to put into my second studio my husband is currently building for me? All the soundproofing in and he hung the sheet rock over the weekend. Now our next step is getting the right glass for the 5x3 foot window and getting the angle right on the interior pane. It is it just basic tempered glass, and what if any specific thickness? We also need to know how far apart and at what angle to space the glass for optimal soundproofing results. Would you mind sharing what you know regarding what you did for the window in your studio?"
When things slow down for you, would you mind pointing us in the right direction? The rest of our soundproofing is rock solid, and we sure don't want to compromise that by what we do with the glass. Thanks so much! ~Janice
I hope all is well. I just saw the video for Joe's new studio diggs! Very kewl! Hey, I sent you a Friend Invite since I had to REload my profile here at VU.com, so when you have a sec, just hit the ole 'accept' button again for me!! All the best my friend!! --Jay Sawyer
Also...I can listen to itunes through Maestro and control volume levels to headphones and monitors by the dial/knob on Duet....but the "listening" ability simply vanishes when I open Twisted Wave to use my microphone. Total silence when I OPEN Twisted Wave or even hit "record"...still nothing in the headphones while I am recording. It IS THERE..I can see the wave form recording and it will playback IN THE HEADPHONES AFTER I record...this is driving me crazy!!
Thanks for your comments regarding my Apogee Duet....
I can't "hear" the mic through my headphones or monitors and it is driving me nuts! I am using the Twisted Wave program..after reading the suggestion from Beau. I know it will be great once LEARN IT. Here is the order of things: Rode K2 mic>Apogee Duet>Macbook Pro Twisted Wave software>??? When I open Twisted Wave...I can SEE the signal on the "recording level/meter"....but I HEAR nothing in the headphones or monitor.??? It records my audio to Twisted Wave with no problem...but the only way to hear what I have recorded is during playback???? I simply CAN'T hear the mic to set levels etc...ANY IDEAS??? Thanks
I got a nice email from Paul Pape regarding my recent podcast and he mentioned he heard it on your site... Wow, that was very kind of you to post it.
I hope all is well with you. Also, I really appreciate the homage to DLF on your site.
