Why did the client on 123 HATE me? See...I get rejected too!!

Just for those of you who thought Bettye was perfect, marvelous, great, well thunk again cowboys and girls. Of course, like all of us, I win some and lose some, but yesterday on V123, I auditioned for a job and the voice seeker HATED me. He ranked me 55 out of 55 auditions! OK dude, go for it. But here's the thing...the audition said "union or non-union" so I informed the guy I was indeed a union talent, quoted an approx fee, and added that one of my agents would do the paperwork on it if he so desired or he could do." Maybe the money or the union made him mad? But he said he would take both...so go figure. My read was fine. Spirited. Enthusiastic. Just like his instructions said in the job description. So I'm sharing this with everyone to say that it matters not years of experience or monies earned...we all have those days of flops. I feel a triumph is just around the corner for me. I think it's important for newcomers to know that even we who are veterans please some folks and not others. So keep in there gang. Let your voice be heard!

Hey everyone, really enjoying your posts. Thanks all for your kind words. Yes, the online voice over battle continues to rage. Some of my auditions truly are what I think the job needs but for whatever reason, client doesn't agree. That's life. That's acting and voice over work. It's all of showbiz...rejection and mystery. Are we good? Bad? Why and why not? In the end, we do what we do because we must do it...that's all I know after all these many years. All best to you and keep writing. Bettye

I hear ya. One never knows what the makes the seeker accept or reject an audition. I felt pretty good about being ranked 8th out of 53 auditions, but then it said that 44 others received the same ranking. Doing the math I realized I was just part of the large wastebasket. All we can do is audition then forget it until we get a positive response from one. BTW... I just did an on-hold message for a computer systems sales company. Little victories along the way!

Joe Loesch is the GREATEST. You are fortunate to have him as your coach. And he makes fabulous demos too. Great of you to write me here. That #1 ranking by a client...then an "I won't be considered"...how weird. And yes, there are lots of weird things out there. Just keep on. It's a build, this career, but be sure you are in "the real world" of agents and advertising agency producers and working with those who hire voices in Nashville etc. Don't JUST depend on the online casting sites!!! And try selling some jobs of your own too! Go for it. But you should have agents who book you. In at least two or three cities!

I know I am late to this string of comments, but I felt the need to give a huge "THANK YOU" to Miss Bettye! Very uplifting and encouraging to a newcomer - means a lot coming from you Bettye! I've only been working at this for about three months now and it sometimes seems all I have gotten from it is rejection. I have been marketing locally here in Nashville and will continue to pursue those leads, but have mainly auditioned on 123 (about 65 of them in the last two months - I know 123 hates that!). From all those auditions I have gotten very little feedback and absolutely no direct contact from any of their seekers. I did get a response the other day that gave me my first #1 ranking - and then it said that I "wont be considered". I later found out that they posted that project again the next day looking for an hispanic male..... so 42 of us took the time to audition but apparently none of us were hispanic - at least I was #1 right?

Anyway, starting VO classes with Joe Loesch this Thursday and am planning to back off auditions for a few weeks. I really like Joe - he is awesome and I am really looking forward to his help. FYI - Joe produced my commercial demo on my profile.

Well, Herb, thanks for the comment. Yes, ya win some ya lose some. Just had to write this info on VU cause it is such a big topic, being rejected in auditions...this is a business of REJECTION. All show business is same. People just have to get used to that fact and let it go...some like ya and some don't. Thanks for writing and keep in touch. All blessings. Bettye
