Happy Friday...and welcome to another episode of [cue music] "my vo world" lol...sounds like some sort of soap opera...lol who watches those anymore anyway? Well today I reflect on this week's progress.

Progress

Did you know that "Reflection" should be taken as serious and as important as progress [as in work & goal setting]? This week's journey was filled with many promising opportunities. Thanks to my new relationship...oohh that sounds so personal..lol...my new business relationships I've had some really great auditions for some BIG BRANDS!! Woo Hoo...That's always good.

My goal is to be heard by as many decision making ears as possible and people who contribute to the process of casting and hiring Voice Talent. So even if I don't book a gig I still win because I've been heard by more ears which narrows down the odds of the "Booking VO Gigs" process.... to book or not to book, that is the question! ok..enough talking about booking...*book 'em dano* (nothin' like corny/dry humor to get your day movin'...lol)

Value

You know it really is an amazing thing that people can hear the value in a voice. How often do Voice Actors really evaluate the value in their instrument? And what do they use to measure an increase in their instrument/skill level?
Well for me, I measure the value of my instrument/skill level with how well I've absorbed my VO training, coaching, and how well I take direction. And you know the proof is in the puddin'...or in this case...the proof is in what comes out after I've "put in" time, practice, and how well I use my ears to allow emulation of who I listen to.

Characters Welcome...

Denise, there are some true gems in there. You bring the innocence and hunger to grow back to the fore. That's often the best engine for doing our best. Thanks for that.

Lofty & SML...thank you for your very thoughtful and valid comments. It's great to live in the NOW but being reminded through reflection is a beautiful scent of reminiscing on the events we've lived!

Denise thanks for that. A great blog.
I particularly like your observation about reflection. It is so easy to get caught up in where we wanna be and why we haven't gotten there yet (where ever "there") might be. Sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses and acknowledge to ourselves how far on the journey we have already come.
Thanks!!! Lofty

Great blog Denise.... I can't agree more with your second paragraph above. We who do VO do it as much for our love of it as we do for the rewards. We certainly don't get the accolades that other actors get...lol. I do as much VO as i can (even if just for practice sake) to keep my voice active, to better my performance, and like you said, to be heard and keep a public presence. It is so easy to be forgetten in this business because our faces aren't out there, BUT... When they hear your voice you want them to say, "I remember them. They're good... Where are they?.. How can I get them?"

Great Job Denise!!!!! Thank you
