Kim Dawson passed away in Dallas and I loved her and so does God. The tale of a pioneer.

Kim Dawson, legendary agent, died today. She was 85 years old and a victim of Alzheimers. She was a top model in NYC for many years and then a top agent nationwide based in Dallas. A pioneer. She had the eye for fashion models and knew actors and voice actors. She booked children and animals and every type of act imaginable in her career. She had a wonderful staff and family who supported her always. She was the patron of so many charities and causes. She worked tirelessly for the things she believed in. She was a master agent.

She took me to lunch once, about twenty five years ago. She said, "you are the one I have always wanted in this town." I signed with her that very day. She was fabulous.

The last time I saw her was at a Dallas restaurant. She did not know anyone anymore but I loved seeing her. She was as gorgeous as ever, regal and sure.

Good bye Kim. So many love you. God loves you more.

Bettye,
I'm truly sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend Gemma very recently. She died of a heart attach at age 39. She was a smoker. She was also a singer although she was an introvert and did not sing for an audience. I miss Texas. I've got cold rain right now here in CT. I hope the sun shines for you even in your grief.

Love
Deby

Thank you for sharing this. I'm surprised I didn't hear from other KD friends. (I went to KD Studio, but I never met her.) I'll have to pass this on. I want to find when the funeral is.

Bettye -
What a wonderful blog to remember a wonderful soul. Kim was the picture of regal and beauty. She lived a wonderful life - and touched so many people along the way! Much love to her family - she will be sorely missed and live on in our hearts forever!

Hi Bettye,

Mrs. Dawson's agency gave me a shot as a brand new talent when I first started in the business. If it weren't for her and Sylvia, I wouldn't be where I am today. She always had a kind word for me and a sweet smile when I went to the agency. So very precious!

Thanks for posting your thoughts. Sounds like she meant a lot to you too.

If it weren't for people like Kim. where would most of us be today. To pioneers and legends...to Kim! Thank you for all you have given us. A far better place you are now. My condolensces to you, Bettye, and to Kim's family. God Bless.

The best tribute you can give her? People gossip and tell stories about others. Anytime I heard things about Kim, it was all positive and uplifting with no gossip at all. It makes me wish I'd been priviledged to know her. To her friends and clients, hang in there. I suspect she would not want to see you sad.
