Big Island Film Festival, which celebrates independent narrative filmmakers and their movies, has selected Giant Monsters Attack Hawaii! as part of it’s slate of films. Only 57 short and feature films from around the world were chosen.
Giant Monsters Attack Hawaii! is a family-friendly short film with a story told through the point of view of an unqualified giant monster (a Muppet-style puppet brought to life using green screen technology) on rampage in Waikiki. It was produced entirely on Oahu under the direction of the University of Hawaii’s Academy for Creative Media alumni Dane Neves (who also directed the award-winning short musical The Green Tie Affair).
The Big Island Film Festival runs May 24 – 28 at The Mauna Lani Resort on the famed Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The movies are shown at two outdoor venues and one indoor venue. The festival also includes food and beverage events, an awards brunch, filmmaker/audience interaction, Hawaiian music and culture.http://www.bigislandfilmfestival.com/
