Hey all!
Finally got around to posting this. I had the chance to compare 6 different methods of noise removal: Sound Forge, iZotope, Audacity, Audition, Waves, and doin it by hand!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hey James.
I was pretty surprised too. I just always had it in my head that the Waves bundle at $900 was pretty much the gold standard. It was pretty cool how getting rid of the same amount of noise seemed to do less damage to the recording in Audacity.

I am planning a budget mic shoot out soon. I'll post here too once it's ready.

Hey there SomeAudioGuy, this is a great post. Thank you so much. The differences are so clear and it's incredible how well the free software stands up against the others. This post should be mandatory reading and listening for all newbies out there. Congrats on this and please please please continue with your tests - this is fascinating stuff. Any mic shootouts planned? Thanks so much again. James
