I just finished the first step in hopefully a long line of exciting career moves.
I recorded my first 'real' commercial demo and promo demo with Marc Rose and Leslie Jane at Dry Smoke Studios here in Portland, Oregon. My skin crawls every time I listen to them. It feels like I have grown a huge amount since last year. It's weird to think that listening to the demos that it is my voice coming out of the speakers. I have to make a shout out to Sandra Peabody who's drilled 12 years of on-camera everything into my head. Also, Marice Tobias gets a lot of credit too for helping me find a place within myself that allows my voice to achieve a richer, bolder tone than I have EVER been able to reach in the year that I have been doing this full-time. Crazy. I found my money voice. Stacey Stahl thinks they're great too. Her opinion is HUGE to me. It is exciting to have so many people excited for me. It really validates my efforts as a performer.
Overall, it has been a spectacularly exhausting process. I couldn't have asked for a more patient and supportive engineer and coach. Thanks Marc and Leslie.
What next..? Oh yeah, finalize website, send out postcard blast, and search for additional representation. Got my new demos and I'm ready to roll. If only I would book some jobs from those pay-to play websites. That would be nice.
Either way, the rest of this year's going to be siiick!
