ISDN anyone ?

I have been hearing rumors about a lot of phone companies ditching their ISDN services , stranding a few VO ISDN talents . This morning I was informed that ,as of Dec 31st ,I would be joining that crew . The Qwest service rep told me that they had sent notices. My response was " I open every envelope you guys send me and this is the first I have heard about it . With 80% of my yearly revenue coming from ISDN VO sessions , something like that would have caught my attention . " So now I have to… Continue

VO tyro blogs his mind!

Here's my little holiday gift to all my new VO friends.

I've recently begun a new voiceover blog, chronicling my personal journey as a fledgling voice artist.

I probably won't offer much earth-shattering wisdom that will benefit any grizzled veterans in the field. But I might, on occasion, write something that resonates with my fellow struggling newbies. After all, we're about sharing here, yes?

My Carinsurance.com session

So tomorrow (Christmas Eve-eve) marks the two week anniversary since my Carinsurance.com radio session, and I wanted to put a few thoughts down. Even now, the session is fresh in my brain, and I had a blast.

1) Five :60s = 35 minutes. - Put that in your pipe and smoke it. How fun.

2) It was in the rare group-recording session format. I loved having someone in the booth with me, and we played off of each other well.

3) Happiness is doing one take and hearing,… Continue

Traveling

I have spent the last two months doing a lot of traveling. And I am well past the "hey this is fun" part......But I was thinking, while being new in the business and landing only a few jobs, I was wondering how many of the professionals that do this fully, ever bring their travel equipment just in case a job comes in. Unless you have a steady stream of work from one client, I am guessing you never know when work does come in.

What got me thinking of this, is now with the airlines… Continue

Hello Coaches! I'm looking for an emergency coaching session before Christmas...!!

I've been turning down work for months now due to neck surgery (an actor's nightmare). I've had some issues with my throat due to the vulnerability of THAT area...I finally have my voice back, and have been asked to do TV and radio PSA's for a nonprofit agency that is over the top warm and friendly. I feel like I need some emergency VO physical therapy to get back to that warm and friendly place...a one-time session before Christmas is… Continue

Benjamin Button......Finally!

The history of this story and it's making into a movie is older than most of us. A truly interesting read.

TV Promos Coaching from Joyce Castellanos

I'm going to make a recommendation here for Joyce if you are thinking about going into TV Promos and need a coach and demo. It will be worth your while and investment into your craft.

I worked recently with Joyce Castellanos as my Promo Coach. I thought to myself is this too good to be true? Not only does Joyce have the background as a Promo Producer for major networks (10+years at WB), she is one of the coolest people that knows how to get your best performance. I got Joyce's… Continue

I'm A Chicken...and proud of it!

So I had my first record session this morning for a national branding campaign for Mary Brown's Fried Chicken. As I mentioned in my previous blog, I play the role of one of the two chickens (Stanley). I also got a pleasant surprise this morning when I learned that the other chicken role (Chuck), is being played by a friend of mine who's also a VO guy. Talk about coincedence!

The commercials hit TV in January, and the animations will be finalized over the next few weeks. Can't wait to… Continue

Finally...I Landed an Animation...of sorts...

Ever since I got into doing voiceover work, I have aspired to at least have a chance to do some sort of animation voiceover - c'mon, I'm a dad of 2 young kids; my daily life consists of animation voices! LOL! I've done a corporate video presentation for a pharmaceutical company where I played a Sumo and his little brother, but it wasn't really a full out animation. Up here in Canada, most if not 95% of animation gigs (i.e. cartoons, animated shows, etc) tend to go the ACTRA (union) route (from… Continue

Custom Couture T Shirts anyone?

Hey guys!

I just finished a fairly extensive project (well, for a girl that does commercials mostly) with a great client right here in NJ. These are great gifts in case you want to check it out, but my voice is on all of the how-to videos for the software to create these custom T-shirts. Just thought I'd share.....go to the page below and click on "How-to Videos" on the top right side.… Continue

Saying...THANK YOU!!

After 5 days of hell, I'm back. What did I come back to? I came back to a FLOOD of wishes and prayers being sent my way. This was overwelming to say to least. I'm still not 100 % but every day things get better. Saying just "thank you" really can't cover the way you've all made me feel. You really are a family here weather you know it or not. I've taken every single message, wish and prayer to Heart and it's only making it stronger everyday. So from my family to the VO Universe family....THANK… Continue

Great Museums of Cuba

Keep your eye out for the upcoming PBS broadcast of this beautiful documentary. I am dubbing the voices of three female museum directors in English. It is really worth seeing and listening to.
