I began exploring doing voiceovers almost a year ago. I participated in a teleclass and went to a bootcamp. I have listened to numerous experts in the field about how to get going. I find that I am having some trouble motivating myself to take the necessary steps to really get going in this. I feel that I could be really successful at it. I wonder if anyone has had similare difficulties in getting started and what they did to overcome them. I welcome any comments from those of you who have been… Continue

From Michael Bell, take a read:
ALERT TO THE VOICE-OVER COMMUNITY
"PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO EVERY VOICE-OVER ACTOR YOU KNOW"
It has come to the attention of the S.A.G. Interactive Committee, that AFTRA is about to negotiate the Interactive contract without the participation of S.A.G.
As you probably know, AFTRA and S.A.G. jointly bargained the Interactive Contract three years ago. Although the joint committees both agreed that RESIDUALS were the number one… Continue

When you get into a profession that is so vastly different from that with which you have been associated, you encounter a good deal of culture shock...and a REEEEEEALLLLY big wall.
20 miserable years of Accounting later, I figured out that while I enjoyed doing voice over at Third Thursday, I was more enthralled with the thought of writing copy. During one of those Third Thursdays, they had us all take a magazine ad and create a :30 second radio ad. It turned out to be my favorite… Continue

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who gave responses to my first (and previous) blog post. Your advice and warm wishes were all greatly appreciated.
I think writing in this on a continual basis will definitely keep my mind on the Voice Acting community and keep me involved with this website. I should keep myself constantly writing in this blog, even if it's something insignificant, so that I'm always thinking about my self, my place, and my future in the Voice Acting… Continue

So today my only child, Annabelle started kindergarten. Yikes! When she was born I quit my job at the radio station and was a full-time stay at home dad who was going to dabble in his first love: voiceover and eventually move full time into that once she was off to school. Well my wife decided to open up her own business a year later and so we split the stay-at-home duties. Much to my surprise and happiness my business exploded, all the while maintaining a balanced schedule of work, kid, play… Continue

So I have my Voice-Over Universe account. I'm pretty glad I have it.
I'm really happy that so many people have addded me as their friend (and I'm thankful for all the friends I made at VOICE 2008)
I hope I get many more comments, each new one makes me feel all that more special and appreciated ^__^
I still have yet to go through all the training material I recieved at VOICE (I know, shame on me). Even though I have all this free time now (I ended up losing my… Continue

I figured the relatively easiest demo to put together would be my imaging demo. Why? because I wasn't doing it! HAH! (not that I am doing the others but still) So I was trying to dig into the "crates" so to speak to pull out some work I have done in the past. I reached out to my… Continue

And let me just say that Debbie Monro - ROCKS. :D If any of you are considering updating your demos? And you want something a bit different from what you've done before - or something that's just going to highlight some particular skills you have that may not be best demonstrated on your current demo? To add a little more "oomph"? Deb's the one for the job, let me tell you.
This is my new commercial demo (after much critiquing both here and on the VO-BB and… Continue

After a lot of hard work (Not by me. What, are you nuts? Dina don't know nuthin' 'bout no websites!) my website is finally launched. Yea!!!
A big gigantic thank you to Bret Brizzee and his friend Jina who did all the work! I think they're fantastic folks.

WOW! I was so impressed by the recent VOICE 2008 conference. LA is my hometown, so I only had to go up the freeway to attend, but so many came from much further away to be a part of this terrific community. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about what was going to happen, but it was a free exchange of ideas, advice, friendship and true camaraderie! I met so many fabulous people, who shine both professionally and personally. I found myself sharing lunch with Christine Coyle from the Famous… Continue

Being an avid fan, I created a fun impression demo a few years ago, with all of the voices from the show I feel confident with. I've uploaded it to my page so please come check it out and leave some feedback!
Its all part of my dream that someday I might actually be able to be on the show! Even if its just a small part to be a part of the Simpsons world would be an honor!:)

My web site is finally up! I made it myself (I hope that isn't too obvious). I used the site-builder software from HomeStead.com. This software made it easy for a comp-u-tard like myself, who knows absolutely nothing about HTML,
to put together a web site.
Also ...notice that the audio demo player is the very same one that we have here on the Voiceover Universe. I actually have my demo player being hosted by VU. It loads fast… Continue

I have just discovered that a new cast member has been chosen for Saturday Night Live, but it wasn't me. I just wanted to thank you for your support, I felt the energy while I was in NYC. Although this isn't the best news for me, it was the best experience, and a chance of a lifetime. I was able to go within a moment's notice and fly to NYC, audition, and I was treated like a star for 3 days. It has opened my eyes towards my potential and future careers. The chance that… Continue

The nerve of her! Let me tell you what happened to me when I finally got in touch with DC voice talent and fellow VU member, Ilene Russell
. So far, I have found the VO acting community to be filled with down-to-earth genuinely nice people, who are open to helping others. When I finally got to talk to Ilene Russell regarding coaches in DC, my impressions about the community… Continue

Here is a post I found in one of the great Voiceoveruniverse groups I joined, bettyezollersvoiceoverinformationcentral. The topic was "What will the VO Industry look like in 5 years?" This post blew me away. I thought it was quite compelling and deepened my perspective on what my VO career could be like in the future.
From the advancements in text to speech and voice synthesis technology I've seen, Bettye,… Continue

Ever wonder if your own internal energy could help the planet and move America to energy independence? You hear producers all the time yellin; "More Energy! More Energy!",...and You
gotta come up with it! Actually, voice people can be a vital cog in a machine of real solutions.
Renewable Energy must become a big part of everyday American life. You have a well-honed skill to persuade, cajole, convince and sell. Put them together, like peas and carrots. Do you know Ad Agency… Continue
