Voice-over JAUNDRA’s

As I tell my students studying Voice-over, there are as many different reads in voice-over as music Jaundra’s! Knowing this is very important and critical to your success. A seasoned professional will know this and certainly will stay in their range of delivery. Not many people are great…

VO in Ohio

Well if ever I thought Detroit had a small VO market...here I am in the Dayton, Ohio area and it seems even smaller! Where there's a will, there's a way. I'm determined to make positive connections and be able to coach and host workshops just as I did in Detroit, even be able to mentor younger folks at the colleges and universities and schools around here. Planting seeds. Planting seeds.

GKN Weekly Update 6/28/10

And a Happy 98 Degree Day to you! One of the perks of being

self-employed is that you only have to leave the house when you land a

gig at a remote studio. You would literally have to pay me to go outside

Here are some tasty nuggets for you today...

I'm getting a logo! It's in the early stages and I don't have any sketches

yet, but when I do I'll post them.

Remember last week when I told you about Infinivox's newest release "The Year's Top… Continue

Branding Your Voiceover Business

One thing nobody is discussing enough on the voice-over websites is branding your business. Branding is who you are, and how you're percieved in the marketplace. Coca Cola is not selling sticky, brown, carbonated liquid in a can. Over the years Coca Cola has told us that Coke is It! Coca Cola adds life! Have a Coke and a smile. And currently, they'd like you to pop open a little happiness.

So if Coke isn't selling cold sugar-water, then you must be more than a voice and a…

Using our voice for the environment, too.

Just want to mention that the oil spill in the Gulf is one place where we can use our God-given talents to make a difference. We can influence people to connect to what's going on there. I produce a radio series called Big Blue Planet which will be broadcasting 4 - 3 minute modules in mid to late July on public radio (for starters). I hope to raise awareness about the wonders of life in the Gulf - and the people who are on the front lines of the spill protecting what's left. - Nancy

GKN Weekly Update 6/21/10

Happy Summer! I hope everyone enjoys the longest day of the year. I was

forced to enjoy it as much as I can. I woke up at 4:45 AM for no good

BTW thanks to all of you who sent those kinds words concerning my goofy "newscast" blog last week. Also, thanks for sending

words of support concerning my clan's recent woes. The good news is that

things are looking up! Moving on...

I love working with my friends. Here's the latest project Trish Basanyi and I… Continue

Invoicing: Online or Offline?

As voiceover artists we sometimes have to put on several occupational hats. From Social networking marketeers to accountants, to recording talents to sound engineers. You can't do everything but you can try to make some of the different aspects of the job easier with the right tools.

I don't know how it started but a few weeks back I realized that I need a proper invoicing software. What I did in the past was a somewhat laborious… Continue

Tom Kane is a unique "character."

Only a handful (if that many) are able to do commercials, narrations, trailers, animation and be pretty good impressionists... Tom Kane is the that guy.

Side bar: Other than being such a great guy, Tom Kane is a newly adoptive dad of Logan & Landon.

Thanks to…

Here I Am

I'm just getting started, in a way. I have a lot of experience that is between 20 and 30 years old. I know I can do this thing, I'm mostly caught up on technology, I just need to dive in and do it. I am sure there are others in a similar position to mine. I'm interested in networking, and WORKING above all. Thank you!

Frank Sinatra Jr. Records My Audio-Book His Way

I had heard Frank Sinatra Jr's audio commentary on three of his father's movies, Robin and the Seven Hoods, Ocean's Eleven, and Sergeants 3. His voice, articulation, as well as his respect for character actors impressed me, so I approach Frank to do the narration on my full cast audio-book McKnight's Memory.

It turned out that Frank was coached for voice work by the great voice actor Paul Frees. Frank also… Continue

Looking for more voice over for animation connections please!

I am looking for more connections to do voice over for animation (like probably 90% of you all right?! ;-)). Being a bit of an A personality and my agent being a tad under cover so to speak, I just thought of putting it out there on Voice Over Universe as it is an awesome community!

So... any thoughts?

Merci and happy day!

Eye Of The Beholder

By Kate McClanaghan, www.voiceoverinfo.com

Presentation is EVERYTHING. Especially to anyone in advertising or the talent business, which is why it’s vitally important that your demo website and CD look as good as your demo sounds. The more appealing and professional your promotional materials appear the more likely you are to elicit a profitable response.

Most demos out there are remarkably below par production-wise, but that is… Continue

Justice for June Foray

June Foray is the first lady of animated cartoons and characters. From Rocky and Bullwinkle, to Looney Tunes' Granny, to Chatty Cathy, and even Little Ricky's dog bark on the classic I Love Lucy, June is a national treasure!

June starred as Jokey Smurf on the original animated series The Smurfs. A Smurfs animated feature is in production, and June was never even approached to participate in the film.

Although Paul Reubens has already been cast as Jokey in the feature, June… Continue
