Have you ever doubted yourself? It’s not that you suffer from depression or low self esteem; it’s when you just don’t know what to think…you’re at the point where you just don’t know what to do! I have been there, and you know what…it helps me to go through that now and then to reset. A good old fashioned reality check sometimes is in order.
In business you’re in control of your destiny, I believe that; and hope you do as well. If you are going to realize your full potential in… Continue

Hello and welcome back! Not that you went anywhere, but it's nice to have you nonetheless.
Life is FINALLY getting back to normal for me! I finished recording the audio books for Infinivox and the science tutorials for Sumanas, which actually turned out to be a companion for a textbook so it's sort of an audio book, too. Now I can get back on track. But first, an announcement!
Remember a few months ago when I said I did a video game but I couldn't talk about it? Well, now… Continue

Ok. This just had me killing myself laughing.
The dangers of outsourcing... ;)
Something to keep in mind for us North American voice over folks - lest we want some Scottish dudes tracking us down via our voices and getting arrested for doing us bodily harm. :D

I have no idea if anyone is reading this or not, but I thought I might as well start out by writing a blog entry. I'm new to this site and I'm very excited about it! I have been wanting to be a voice actor for YEARS. I'm currently a senior in college with a PR major and theatre minor. My ultimate goal is to do commercials, cartoons (anime specifically) and video games. That would be my DREAM come true. I think I should also think of a name for myself...as my last name is kind of difficult for… Continue

Hey there, all you TV fans!
Once again I have a busy day so I don't have much time. I have an audition in NYC for...actually I don't know! I'll find out when I get there. Then I have another animated science tutorial script to record (eight down, two to go!). Sorry if I haven't been able to give the GKN the time and effort it deserves lately, but I have a feeling things will settle down after this week.
TIP OF THE WEEK: Business is booming right now, which means more loot!… Continue

So a couple of weeks have passed since I posted part one of this article which is:
Tips for Becoming Self-Employed & Staying That Way.
but the fact remains that this is a pretty big subject and allot of good can be distilled from the Internet-Collective of thinkers and those-who-have-taken-that-path before us.
I'll start where we left off last time which is leaving the house at least… Continue

I received an email today, and once this is posted I suspect many more will have also. Since this is completely unsolicited AND the email is generic, not specific with my name, I deduce this to be a scam, just as each of the others in the same verbiage have been. Stay away, don't answer any email that looks like this:
Header: 30 Second VO TV Commerical
(Notice the generic intro.......) Attention:
I am trying to reach this talent concerning a… Continue

Six months ago I started working as a volunteer voice-talent and producer for AIRS-LATINO, the Spanish version of AIRS-LA, an organization for which many voice-over artists record information otherwise not available to the visually impaired.
Last week, I was appointed Director of Programming for AIRS-LATINO, a position that is certainly challenging. A position that entails much more responsibilty, work and above all...SATISFACTION! Yes, SATISFACTION! Why? Because AIRS-LATINO is going… Continue

I talk a lot. It’s how I earn money. No voice, no money. So over the years, I’ve learned quite a bit about vocal health and the importance of caring for my voice. Here are some tips that have served me well:
Warm up your voice and your body before you practice, audition, or record. These warm ups may include humming, tongue twisters, yawning, stretching, singing, jumping up and down, etc. Do what works for you. Your vocal chords are muscles that need to stretch and warm up before a… Continue

And good morning to you on this crisp, Spring day!
I have to make this an uber-quickie one. Today I go to Panetta Studios to narrate the sci-fi audio book "Mongoose" by Ian Creasey. Then I go to Full House Productions in NYC to narrate some Cambridge ESL tests. Then I go back to Panetta Studios to narrate "Events Preceding the Helvetican Renaissance" by John Kessel. Then I'm taking my best friend Carly out to dinner for a small going-away celebration, since she is moving to Vermont.… Continue

I'm sure everyone has run into this at some point or another...
I have a gig tomorrow morning and woke up with a voice changing cold today.
What remedies do you have to get though the gig and play through the pain without the producer going... "Thanks but, you should go home."
Please post your recommendations. I've got 15 hours til gig.
