Just uploaded a new News Open for a client in Texas. Check it out. I love Affiliate Imaging...probably my favorite thing to VO.

I have been meaning to update and add to what was a meager demo for this category -- and here it is.
A little of this a little of that...and maybe I can make a very small dent in an area now dominated by very talented women.
I do have a history of doing this.
When I lived in L-A, I was the male English go to guy for a company headquartered in Glendale. I'm not sure what the company did at its sprawling offices, but tucked in the back, was a small room, jammed with outdated… Continue

I am currently working on a podcast version of "The Mixed Nut Show" in which I speak with original voices and impressions. It is influenced heavily by the work of Peter Sellers and The Goon Show, similar to the old radio plays... but I will be minimal in the sound effects department. I hope to build it up with interaction from listeners and subscribers; people will submit questions for me to answer, voices impressions to share and topics to discuss.
Basically, it will be an audio… Continue

I did another session with the great WLKH in Milwaukee. They always do great work. They mix me together with their other voice guy, the one and only Jim Cutler. It was a blast! Check it out on m VU page demos.

So, it's Sunday and I'm running around Tokyo like it's a weekday. First job at a studio in Hiro-o. Booked for three hours, done in 90 minutes. Great, except that now I have even more time to kill before the next gig. Head off to the next gig after spending longer than in Starbucks than I thought humanly possible. Big TV commercial. Can't say the damn product name right! We all laugh it off as I have the same issue every year. Client say's "see you next year". I love those words.

Update -- Tide of Tears snared a "best cinematography award at the NY festival.
See update below.
There is some news about the documentary film "Tide of Tears: The Collapse of the Cajun Coast", a film about the loss of the Louisiana bayous and the natural and political forces that have created the current situation. I first wrote about it here on Voiceover Universe in August.
It's a visually beautiful film filled with interesting characters and disturbing… Continue

1961. West Side Story. This film won ten Academy Awards in its eleven nominated categories, including Best Picture. The amazing genius of Leonard Bernstein with his powerful score along with lyrics from Stephen Sondheim are timeless. You know the story of course.
One particular scene will roll around in my head quite often.
To help set the scene.... start snapping your fingers in rhythm …..now… visualize “The Jets” (ready to rumble) getting antsy...while waiting for “The… Continue

I have to say I’m very proud of our troops fighting over in Afghanistan. Over 100 have died for a US cause. We are helping the US and then Fox News come out with a blatant onslaught on our troops. It’s not enough that they have to worry about getting killed by the enemy...now they're being attacked by the media in the US. to read more and see the video http://coxtalks.blogspot.com
You should very proud of America with those kind of… Continue

Chello to all of my V-U Fam!!! As we move with the ebb and flow of this "Intellectually Challenged Economy's" ending of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter, many of us find ourselves busy being busy--and or--busy working on being busy...lol [ya know what I mean...follow me now~lol]
Some may have predicted the VO Industry may suffer from recession like some suffer from indigestion, or the more modern term, reflux. Well, I and I'm sure many more Voice-Actors… Continue

the same things.. some good... some pretty freakin scary...

Well it's now March 2009, my goal of getting my demo done by the end of 2008 has passed, without hitting it.
I had to re-prioritize my budget and training which kept me from making it happen. It is still on the list with a new time line, not sure where it will land, but I am moving in a forward direction at the very least.
I purchased some new equipment to work with, what an improvement over my starter set up. I have been on a few tele-seminars and have gotten some… Continue

As if the recent passing of Connie Zimet & Brian James in the same week weren't enough to have the creative minds spinning, Kelly Kelly Kelly has worked with the best of best.
I just received this from her ...
TJ Roberts passed away this morning.
i'm so numb.
2 friends in 2 weeks.
i don't know what to make of it all.

I remember like it was yesterday and yet it was some 35 + years ago. Funny how rejection has a way of leaving an indelible mark on your memory.
I had just created a voice over demo and was thrilled to learn that "Marvelous" Marv Brooks (WPGC "Good Guy" and Program Director) had agreed to listen and review it. Of course, back in the day this was analog.... submitted at 7.5 ips as a reel to reel tape .
If you grew up in the D.C. area then you recall that Marv was a bit of a… Continue

It's been a while since I've posted something, and what better time than now...as I sit here in beautiful Lakeland, Florida on my first 2 week vacation since my post highschool days. The family and I packed up in our mini van and headed down the I75 for 2 glorious weeks of sun and sand in the sunshine state. This however, was the first time I've had to think about being accessible during a vacation. I gave my regular clients and agent a couple of weeks notice in advance, but I also let them… Continue
