That's great news! So looking forward to working with you. You should be receiving instructions soon on what you need to prepare, etc. for my class. If you haven't by Monday - please let me know. But as a heads up I'm asking that you bring several pieces that include the basics - 1st person, 3rd person and male/female dialogue. Also, if there are things I should know about you, work I should be aware of or hear - please do forward it to me.
I trust the Voiceover Universe experience has been good for you!
Also, I hope you'll check out and join a new group that we just started called MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT. It's a group dedicated to discussing ways we can market ourselves - what works; what doesn't. The link is: www.voiceoveruniverse.com/group/marketingforfunandprofit
Thanks for your time! I trust our paths will cross soon!
As requested, here's the feedback on your demo. A small caveat, this is just my opinion and just information for you to discard or use. I would ask that you receive this feedback from a place neutrality and non emotional attachment and in the spirit in which it is intended... to be of service to your VO growth, dreams and goals. That being said, "Let's Talk Voiceover"...
Overall, I feel you have a real nice quality to your sound. It feels clean, honest and straightforward. The length is perfect. I appreciate your ability to deliver copy with a natural pace. I found it interesting that you only mentioned an actual product on two (not counting Haunted Trail) occasions, which is refreshing on one hand and threw me on the other, since commercials are about selling products, services, etc.
My personal preference would have been to start with either spot #3 or #2, then spot #5. Those feel like the strongest spots. I'm not so sure about the scary Dracula one or the Castrol spots. Perhaps next time you could find copy where you could use YOUR scary voice and YOUR tough guy/blue collar/Nascar voice. Just food for thought. The dialog spot was fun and well played but I would have liked to hear more of you (since it's your demo).
The police officer spot didn't ring true for me, if it could be not only more conversational but more emotional in the underlying delivery (the acting seems to be missing on this one) it might play a little more honestly.
I thought the Beck's beer ad was fun and a real nice surprise!
There you have it. Thanks for inviting me to chime in. I hope this is of some assistance. Keep up the good work and go for it!
