Continued Training in Ohio

I am having a good time reaching out to the Ohio VO community and feeling welcomed by all the kind responses! I am hoping to be able to take some classes to meet more people. There seem to be two VO teachers I've run across so far -one in Columbus and Jean Zarzour in Cleveland/Pittsburgh - both offering classes for beginners. This time last year I was really enjoyinng mentoring and passing along what I know and have learned to folks interested in VO - having student's come to my home privately a… Continue

VO in Ohio

Well if ever I thought Detroit had a small VO market...here I am in the Dayton, Ohio area and it seems even smaller! Where there's a will, there's a way. I'm determined to make positive connections and be able to coach and host workshops just as I did in Detroit, even be able to mentor younger folks at the colleges and universities and schools around here. Planting seeds. Planting seeds.

Have Mic Will Travel & other thoughts

No doubt my home recording equipment more than paid for itself the first year I had it. I'm just as happy with the investment in the little USB travel mic I purchased from musiciansfriend.com. I travel a lot now back and forth between Michigan and Ohio (where, eventually, I will land full-time) and have never missed a voice-over audition, and have booked auditions I have recorded from hotel rooms, with pillows surrounding my laptop and copy on my computer screen. I think I spent around 160. I te… Continue

Pamela Lewis returns to RMS recording studios for more voice-over training, October 25th

We are so lucky to have someone of Pamela's calibur local to Detroit to offer her Character/Cartoon voice-over workshops, based on her popular book TALKING FUNNY FOR MONEY, and not have to trek to NYC (though I love excuses to trek to NYC) to study with her! What a long sentence. Also, to get her training for $175 is an unbelievable deal, not only here but anywhere and in any economy. "If you build it they will come." That has remained true to date since being able to connect people wanting qual… Continue

VO Training in Detroit continues

LOVING the copy/practice sessions! Really a great group and all seem to be enjoying the experience so far - 90 minutes goes by quickly trying to give everyone a couple passes at the mic with at least a couple takes each time. It's a super experience for my directing and producing skills too. So far, I received some really nice, unsolicited, feedback in that area. I'll definitely be doing another one of these sessions next year.

Pamela Lewis will be doing another workshop at RMS recording studio… Continue

Hi Teri! How nutty - we both know (and love) Elizabeth, teach VO classes and were in Love and Other Drugs! I play nurse Maria in 2 scenes with Jake and Hank...yeah, we're close like that after 2 days! (not) We have to get together to share war stories. I'm sure this is a huge adjustment for you, but with your chops and experience, you'll be slammed in no time. It's just more work than ever before because of the dwindling number of union gigs. Michigan still has a thriving market compared to Ohio as I'm sure you've noticed. I hope you'll give me a call at 216-521-3831 whenever you get the time, and definitely call me if you are going to be in the area and I'll do the same. We should plan a slumber party with Elizabeth before she abandons us for good!! Take care and keep in touch.

PS I'm so jealous that you worked with Pat Fraley! I can't charge enough to have him as a guest artist in my classes or I'd do it in a heartbeat.

All my best- Jean

Hi Teri!

I know you’ve been a member of Voiceover Universe for some time, but I wanted to introduce one of our groups to you.

I hope you'll check out and join a group called MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT. It's a group dedicated to discussing ways we can market ourselves - what works; what doesn't. You’ll find some very interesting ideas and concepts there! And we would appreciate your input. Click here for the link: MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT!

Thanks for your time! I trust our paths will cross soon!

Best to ya!

Hi Teri! Great to connect with you on here! I look forward to possibly meeting you either at a future workshop in Detroit or at VOICE 2010. I live 30 miles outside of Philadelphia. Recently, I just got back from VoiceLympics Cruise 2009 that Deb Munro hosted. I had a blast learning from top coaches and visiting Burbank, CA for the first time. I am a hard working man with a never say die attitude. I'm just getting started in this wonderful world of Voiceover and if you have any advice about the business feel free to give me a shout out whenever you like!:-) Look forward to finding out more about you. Continued success in your VO career!

All my best,

Adam

Hello Teri. Tonight I found that you are from Michigan. Last February, I taught as guest professor at Lansing University in Lansing MI. The head of the theatre dept there saw my workshop in Denver in August of 2008 and invited me. It was 12 below zero...ouch...but loved teaching, Twenty five people were enrolled, all enthusiastic and all wonderful talents. I taugt at VOICE 2010 in 2007 as well. I see their banner here. Are you connected with this? I am very interested in your activities in Michigan after teaching so many who want to be in our business. My home site is www.voicesvoices.com and I present workshops nationwide by invitation. My yearly schedule always is on my homepage. I've been a voice pro thirty years and also own recording studio in Dallas and am pro audio engineer. Look very much forward to finding out more about you.
