HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
I am the author of two best selling voice-over books, You Can Bank on Your Voice and Step Up to the Mic. I am also the voice of many commercial products. For more information and samples of my work visit my website at: www.rodneysaulsberry.com
I'm reading your books, watching your videos and learning a great deal. It doesn't appear that you do one on one training? Could you refer me to someone who you have confidence in and/or trained with? I'm looking for a solid coach that will work with me and develop my talent. Anyone come to mind? Thanks.
In "You Can Bank On Your Voice", one of the things you suggested we ought not to do is offer alternate takes after a buy. This rings very true for me--but in a different line of work. Since the mid nineties, I've been pretty lucky as a drummer in the music scene and have had some real fortunate opportunities to work with some great producers and artists. And I think you're right: it is definitely tempting to want to hang around after they get "the take" and play around with some other ideas. Usually I felt this way because I was having so much fun and didn't want to leave. (In some cases, I was a real fan of the artists I got to play for--in which case I really didn't want to leave!) But what you say is true; if you give 'em something new that they actually like...well, you might've just bought yourself another couple of hours in the studio--a couple of hours that probably won't be paid for.
