Profile Information

- Voice Actor, Creative Director
HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
- I am currently the night jock at CBS Top 40/HOT 95-7 Houston as well as Music Director. I also Voicetrack afternoon drive at a radio station in Utah.
Over the past 10 years I have "jocked" at great stations in Philly, Kansas City, San Antonio, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Mobile and now here in Houston.
I have just recently began pursuing VO work seriously and have a couple stations on my resume and am looking to gain more and eventually bleed into voice acting and big projects. I Voicetrack and create VO from my small home studio. World domination wouldn't be so bad ;)

I recently joined VU, this past week and I'm discovering there's alot more here than I first thought/saw. I have a home studio set-up very similar to yours: Intel iMac 20" w/4GB ram, MBox2mini, ProTools 7.4.2, BX5A monitors, OWC 500GB xternal HD, 2mic's and a variety of stands, cables, soundproofing. All looks good on paper, but I have a conflict in my computer which I've attempted to resolve with both Apple Support and Digidesign.
I'm convinced now that there is a disagreement between the iMac and ProTools. I was seeing the "spinning beachball" constantly, where the system would "hang" and the only way to un-hang it was to power-off, than restart. After Apples help, and by really digging into Digi's forums, I have resolved most but not all of the issues. I still have some issues with iTunes, any on-line multi-media site, and most recently with both iMovie and Garageband, but not all the time.
If I see the "spinning beachball" I know I'm done for. "Hanging" in my case can only be resolved with the power-off button. Now I don't know what you've done to avoid these issues but I would really like to know what your experience has been from the gitgo with your set-up.
Any ideas/guidance will be appreciated as I like the equipment, and I'm really beginning to appreciate ProTools.
Thanx
Tom
