Actually Kasey did send out heavy metal stars just like that as an invitation to join him and several hundred others when he had a star plunked into the sidewalk on Hollywood Blvd.
I soaked the whole package in water first for fear it was a bomb from one of my competitor vo's.
I kept the thing for years as a paper weight then tucked it away somewhere thinking it was a great weapon for a house robber to brain me with. I would hate to be killed by Kasey's star.
If I find it, I will sent it to you.
Mike
Nice torture chamber. Do I see a Kasem Krugerand on the table?
I spoke to Noel Blanc last week. I am working on trying to convince the SAG honorarium committee to present a Posthumous Life Achievement Award to Mel. Noel is gatheringinformation for me about Mel's charity work....an important cog in the requirements for such an award. A million credits and more fans doesn't seem to be enough.
If you get a chance, go to unionunderground.org and take a look at some short short films I produced. Love making movies.
Who knew?
Talk ta ya again.
Mike
and you're REALLY good at it...I was ready to call Ticket Master after I listened to your demo...great stuff!~~
My story is an excellent example of how "the business" tends to pigeon-hole people, often to their benefit. I was the first promo voice for Fox Sports, and my deal with them lasted 8 years.
My last day with them was February 11, 2002. To this day most people think I still do that gig, much to the understandable chagrine of Michael McColl who presently has the crown. The good news is, I am, still, arguably THE franchise sports voice. If you want instant credibility with your sports project - have me read it.
One last note, I came to LA to be a network promo and trailer voice. But, as times have changed, I came to realize I don't want to be the voice of most of the crap that's out there - and my one "license to kill" is in Sports, which I never would've asked for, but am joyful and grateful it is so. Go Cowboys!!
I will take your advice on the swing arm.
Thanks,
Rick
