Story time

Wow, I feel like I haven't posted forever.

My job gives me a lot of opportunities to experience new groups of people and situations, so when they asked if I would read storytime for Ages 6 and younger, I thought "Why not? I haven't worked with this age group yet."
I went through the library system and picked out a million books about Fireflies, and I was so excited because it was the perfect opportunity to get into character. Then on that day, I got nervous. The one thing that I can say about c… Continue

Anime club and cottage cheese

When I was setting up my demo packages to go out today, I was reminded of how my voice acting ambitions started. I was a junior in college, and one of my best friends convinced me to start an Anime club at our school. Anime awesome...being a public figure no way. I kept telling her that I would think about it, and one day she came into my room and said "Guess what? I just set up an interest meeting, and you are running it."

0_0! Public speaking not my thing at all. So reluctantly I ran the meet… Continue

May I ask who's calling? 0_0

A patron at the library I work at gave me an incredible amount of information for companies in the area, and today I find that I have plenty of time to make the calls.

For some reason, I am super nervous to make these calls, but I resist procrastination. I'm not sure what to think about the first call. It was so incredibly quick that there was no way to make an impression, but I followed the protocol, was confident, and he gave me the information to mail my demo. He didn't give me a name just t… Continue

The moral of the story- Do something, anything!

The process of self marketing has proven to be quite the challenge and often times my feelings fluctuate several times a day. The journey has been a complete roller coaster thus far, and sometimes I feel like I haven't come close to doing enough. I don't think that feeling is going to change for a while. One minute I've made a great contact, and I am on top of the world. The next minute I feel like I am in the same place I've always been in. Concentrating too much on the end result will do that.… Continue

Double T is Double Trouble

I was inspired to tell this story while listening to Voice Overs On Demand.
Probably about a year into my voice over training, I finally got the opportunity to audition for a children's press and speak book! The role called for a young boy (6-8) to instruct the reader to press certain buttons to make things work. I was super nervous because A. I had never recorded in a studio like that, and B. I had never tried to do a boy voice. C. We were given two takes max to get it right.

I spent my 15 min… Continue

Hey Maria,
Adventures in Voice Acting is set to debut for sale at Anime Expo in LA on the first weekend of July. I'm assuming it will most likely be available for sale online through Bang Zoom Entertainment's website eventually. Looks like its gonna come out in 3 volumes, jam packed with extras. I'm geeking out over getting a copy myself!
