HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
I've had a mic in my hand or face since I was a teen, starting out with a corded EV mic and a Shure Vocal-master system. I began by making a living as a singer, for several years in venues all around So Cal.
In my 30's a long time friend asked me to narrate a series of industrial videos for his firm, and I was hooked. I have a home studio situated in my 4 acre very quiet rural setting of Cottonwood, CA.
In 1992, I began producing and hosting the morning drive-time show as the “Manna Man” on Christian radio KVIP Redding, CA, KMWR Brookings, OR and KNDZ, McKinnlyville, CA The program airs Monday-Friday from 6-9 AM on those three full power stations as well as via 29 translators in AZ, CA, NV and OR, broadcasting to a potential audience of 2,000,000.
Non-edgy, smooth, light and a bit breathy are apt descriptors. I usually have a smile on my face and that comes through when I record. I'm upbeat and lighthearted by nature and believe that laughter is a good medicine. When singing, I fit into the 2nd tenor / baritone range.
DIALECTS, Character voices and vocal impressions
Having a trained singer’s ear gives me a huge advantage in learning to mimic and in creating new voices. I confess, I am a Mel Blanc devotee. As a kid, I always mimicked cartoon voices and am delighted to make my living talking “funny”. I’ve got a pocket full of Loony Toon-like voices.
My best impersonation character voice is Granpappy Amos McCoy from the old TV show, "The Real McCoys" played by Walter Brennen.
Dialects come easily and my British, Russian, French, Eastern European and Mexican voices are well rounded and convincing. As an Irishman, I’m more of a “Lucky Charms” kind a guy.
