Workin' On It

Posted on March 5, 2009 at 12:58pm 0 Comments

The news keeps getting worse and worse, cuts to jobs, companies laying off, school budgets destroyed. It's hard enough to keep your head when all about you are losing theirs! So where does that leave your VO career? It's been slower, for sure. But keeping several irons in the fire is the best way to insulate yourself from this ravaged economy.

I, for one, believe that we will soon be on a better path, but things will stay stagnant for a while. So, I'm investing (see, I am personally… Continue

VOICE 2008 A Success!!

Posted on August 23, 2008 at 12:53pm 1 Comment

WOW! I was so impressed by the recent VOICE 2008 conference. LA is my hometown, so I only had to go up the freeway to attend, but so many came from much further away to be a part of this terrific community. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about what was going to happen, but it was a free exchange of ideas, advice, friendship and true camaraderie! I met so many fabulous people, who shine both professionally and personally. I found myself sharing lunch with Christine Coyle from the Famous… Continue

Summertime!

Hi. I love the essence of summer--the long sunny days, warm nights and endless dreams of down-time with the family and our friends...then reality sets in and I'm running around between auditioning, releasing my newest demo and keeping the kids entertained at various activities! Whew! Whoever said that voicing is an easy job??? A lot of hard work is what it is. But worthwhile!!!!

I've been concentrating on getting a website up and running. I know what I want it to look like, and I've… Continue

Welcome to Me!!

Posted on May 15, 2008 at 12:30pm 0 Comments

Hi

First foray into blogging, so I'll be gentle. And you be gentle too. I'm Lori Furth, living in beautiful Southern California with the big dream of making it as a professional voiceover artist. I started in voiceovers in 1996 doing IVR projects with my husband, who writes software for airlines. Talk about a match made in heaven...he developed IVR systems and asked me to voice them!!

Soon, talking into the telephone for recording (yikes!) gave way to purchasing more… Continue

Hi Lori!

I know you’ve been a member of Voiceover Universe for some time, but I wanted to introduce one of our groups to you.

I hope you'll check out and join a group called MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT. It's a group dedicated to discussing ways we can market ourselves - what works; what doesn't. You’ll find some very interesting ideas and concepts there! And we would appreciate your input. Click here for the link: MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT!

Thanks for your time! I trust our paths will cross soon!

Best to ya!

Hi Lori!

Nice to hear from you... I hope all is well! Thanks for checking out my new site. A company called Genusus did it - my friend (and a fellow vo talent) Lou Zucaro owns it. They're in Chicago. I highly recommend them!!

Hope you're bookin', bookin', bookin'!!!!!! Caryn

It's actually my Godson in the picture -- we were doing a PSA about home safety. His first and so far, latest VO gig.

Wow, that's what I call inspiration, Lori - many congratulations! Of course, you might have got the national TV gig anyway, but VOICE certainly gave us all a lot to think about - most of it positive, I think.

Actually, I'm still in the 'digest-all-the-memories-people-faces-voices-education' phase, but there's plenty of time to figure it all out...

Either way, it was wonderful to just get so many of us recluses together in one place, wasn't it!? As you said, it was comforting to hear some of the big names empathize with the isolation our job can bring at times. Now we know, we are not alone!

Take care, Lori - and be sure to keep in touch.

Here's to many more BIG ONES!
Rajiv
