HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
I'm a radio vet, but I pride myself on not sounding like one! I also have plenty of copywriting experience, which helps me decipher technical and convoluted copy.
RECENTLY BOOKED PROJECTS
I'll be imaging a channel on Air Force One...yes, Barack's plane!
VOICE DESCRIPTION
Youthful and feminine. Intelligent, direct delivery. Low-mid range.
DIALECTS, Character voices and vocal impressions
Southern US (Texan & Southern Belle), Brooklyn, Arabic, British (RP & Cockney), Irish, Russian, French and I have a great ear for figuring out new ones on the spot.
Good Morning,
Thanks so much for your well wishes and suggestion. I'm going to order that book today. I must tell you that my given name is Jeanine but my family and friends have always called me Neen. It's a nickname of endearment and I really love it.
Thanks Again!!!!
Cheers,
Neen

Just saw your response to my response. Debreathelizer in my opinion is a much more natural tool. It keeps in room tone, whihc is somewhat controllable and it trolls for breaths and seperates things into 2 tracks - recording only and breaths only. You listen through and if there is something the program accidentally identified, you can replace it back on the track or otherwise slice out something manually if the program missed it. Most book publishers won't let you use a gate, but I have hipped 2 audiobook companies to this software and they love, love, love it.
I should also meniton that I recenly purchased an Aphex 230 and it is the only mic pre with a noise gate that I have fiddled with that works well. This may be a better plan if you're looking to lower overall ambient noise.
The things about gates, even intelligent ones is that they shut out almost anything unless it's above a certain level, which mean loud noises still get in and some noises get in and ride on the voice, like hums. Also debreathelizer can be setup to remove breaths that are fairly quiet.

Have to laugh at your politically correct way of saying, I'm one of the few who have the balls to take on the union and expose their short comings. Well trust me, they've proven more than once that they are not a one for all and all for one union. When a person from San Francisco might want to hire you from your city (if it's not SF) that client is supposed to prove they exhausted all the local union talent and you are the only one capable of doing the job in order to ALLOW you to work in SF. As we all know, with the internet bridging the distances electronically, this become less of an issue, but all the penalties and demands the union puts on talent, makes the union label more like having herpes. No one wants to mess with them. Instead of becoming more user-friendly, they seem to make more and more demands while still not really doing us as much good. Another example is how I was actually being told that my talents were exactly what an agent did NOT want because they make more money sending out one trick ponies who make more mistakes who require more pick up sessions....I called the union to see what they could do to help me. The fact that back in those days of union franchised agents, the union was allowing agents to perpetuate mediocrity and to penalize more talented folks, is inexcusable and when I asked the union what they could do to help me, they offered to send a letter to the agency. However when I said, "Wouldn't that end up getting me blackballed in the industry?" they said, "Yes, which is why no one makes waves. Union wages are supposed to pay all of us for travel time by the mile and the hour. But again, if you are in LA and travel, you stand a lot better chance of getting travel pay, than if you are anywhere else. San Diego used to have a union office, so we are technically qualified for travel pay to LA for a union job. But if we ask for it, we're often told....."No, they're not paying travel or gas. If you want the job, you'd better foot that bill yourself or they'll just hire someone else who's in LA."
So I have reasons for thinking the union needs a remodel. Those are only some of them
Best of luck to you.

Hello Haneen,
Our FiCore page doesn't seem to allow me to reply to your last post there so I will try here. You should be able to still work at your AFTRA radio job a FiCore with no problem. FiCore allows you to work union and non union. For any union job, you are treated and paid like a normal union member. I was also at a radio station that was AFTRA in 1992, but most stations here in San Diego have opted out of that. Yes it's good for radio, but I seriously don't see why you can't continue to work at your station as FiCore. I'd check into it and don't let the union BS you.
Good luck.
