You may have heard about the Studio Projects C-1 before ... that is, if you've ever heard the one about the Neumann U87 clone out of China ... the condenser mic that lists for just $169 at B&H Photo ... the one that screams "cheap" and "no way it could sound as good as a Neumann" and so on and so forth.
Well, maybe you haven't heard of it yet. Me, I didn't hear about it until months ago when I heard speak of a mysterious mic from the orient that somehow raised comparisons to the U87. Absolu…

Thank you for the considerate offer. I've pretty well determined that whatever is going on with this iMac conflict is a software, read that "driver" issue, rather than a hardware problem. That thinking comes from some posts on the Tech Blog here @ VU that got my attention. For example, yesterday I was listening to audiobook samples at the iTunes store. Checked out maybe 8-10 samples...no problem. Closed iTunes and did something else. About an hour later I went to a web page to listen to some post, and no audio. In this case I didn't get the beachball, so I could re-start the iMac, return to the web page and listen. If I got the beachball, it's Power off, etc.
I need to better understand audio "drivers" so I can resolve(possibly) these issues.
Anyway, I do hope to meet sometime as we're neighbors and we're both in VO and it's always good to keep connected in this biz in this town.
If you have any insight re: audio drivers please pass them along.

Thanx for the "strip silence" recommendation, I knew nothing about it. I have been picking my way thru the ProTools PDF and still, there's so much. I don't understand tweaking the db, but I'll add it to my list. Recently I tried working with both EQ and Compression, and the results were pretty awful.
Although Harlan Hogan sez send "clean" tracks, I'd still like to be able tweak my submissions a little bit, don't you think.
Thank you again,
Tom Dolan

Sure enough, someone 20 minutes away was selling their studio and had the exact John Hard M-2 configuration I wanted. Brought some mics to test it and WOW is all I can say; basically brand new, rugged as hell, sounds frakkin' amazing, and about half list!
A BIG congrat's again on those nuptials.. She got an outstanding guy and I'm sure you did the very same!! We wish you both nothing but the best. I'll let you know how the regional thang goes with the coach.. CYA soon,
Bob
I dig the M-2. It's similar to my RNP, just an ugly little box that gives a clean HOT signal.
Where'd you pick it up?
LOL Talkshop? What were they running there?
