HERE'S WHAT VOICE ACTORS ARE DOING AROUND THE WORLD!

How true it is. Memory recall and catch phrases are what keeps me in character. new characters do tend to have a mind of their own for a while before they settle.Great advice!

great stuff what mic did you use in the car?

Awesome Brent! Much continued success! Aren't those national gigs exciting?! Rock on man!

Thanks Bill, forgive my ignorance-is the 416 a shotgun?
August 16
The Sennheiser 416 is pretty good on the road because it's so directional. Put the quietest direction of the room behind you, stay close to it (which you'd want to do anyway), and it'll do some amazing things. I put it in my briefcase with my laptop…

Congrats, Brent :-) It is great to know that vo clients also look at the free profiles, not just the paid ones!

Great bit! Hank is one of my favorites and its nice to know how he comes up with voices as I tend to do the same. Find a reference from real life or TV, then begin to tear off the layers and see what beneath. Start to customize the character and cre…

Thanks Josh, can you tell me more about the mic? I' looking for something ideal for hotel rooms and 'on the road' recording to go with my (soon to be delivered) porta booth.

What is the best vocal mic for on the road

I'm looking for opinions on what is the best vocal mic for when I'm on the road ( hotel room, guest bedroom, etc) I need to be able to record broadcast quality vocals for TV spots 24/7. I've ordered the Harland Hogan Porta booth so that will help. I have heard shotguns are the best but there are always differing opinions. Please post any advice based on experience, cost not an issue.
Thanks!

VO Success!

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my very recent success with VU, with the hopes of inspiring you to always strive to be the best and to never give up. I recently was contacted by a client seeking a character voice for a company mascot. after a few call backs it turned out to be the fox puppet for the Carfax. I was shortlisted to the top three and did not get the gig. Then I received a phone call a few weeks back - they were re-evaluating the talent and i was now down to the top two! To make a long… Continue

animation and video game demos

Is it best to have a separate demo for animation and video games? Or can one combine the best of both demos? If a video game demo is better separate, what should it be called? I've heard the term 'interactive' used a lot but have never seen anyone actually use it.

Apex mic upgrade

I have an APEX 450 mic and I've heard of a relatively cheap upgrade kit to make it sound like a $2000.00 or higher mic. Does anyone have a clue how and where to go about this?

Neumann or Avalon?

If you could buy either Neumann Mic or an Avalon preamp (say a 737) to improve your vocal sound, what would you buy? I have two mics now: MXL 990, and Apex 450

Good luck with your negotiations Brent. If you need any other voices other than what you deliver, check out my new Animation Demo on my website www.patsvoice.com. The demo still needs some tweaking but after a lengthy period of training I am excited about entering into this fun area. Continued success Brent!

So far so Good, what you showed me has really helped me improve my skills on pro tools. I fell like the program is a lot more effective and a little less intimidating. Once I have it all locked in my head I would love to learn some more!

Your VO work is very impressive. I also had to mention that your website is awesome! Very flashy but still very simple. I love the animated tabs when hovering over them. Oh and I can't help to say that your studio is beautiful.
