HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
I am not a voice over actor or a medical professional. However, I have a strong fascination with the voice and how our speech impacts our daily lives. My interest in this has grown due to a medical condition my Mom has had for over 10 years (Spasmodic Dysphonia). SD has almost rendered my mother speechless for many years now. It is frustrating for her and painful for me as well (I love her so much).
I started VoiceMatters.net to meet other people who have voice problems, use their voice professionally, or provide voice-related services. Zurek sent me the invitation to join this site and I am very happy to be here!
I selected Vocal Coach on my profile, but I have really become more of a source of encouragement and inspiration for people who are seeking to reclaim their voice (physically and emotionally). I am looking forward to meeting everyone.
I’d like to invite you to join a group I’ve started called “Voices of Colors.” There members offer information and advise each other on navigating this business as people of color. Just go to "forum" (up top), then to "groups," then join "Voices of Colors." Looking forward to hearing of your experiences.
All the best and continued success.
I know you’ve been a member of Voiceover Universe for some time, but I wanted to introduce one of our groups to you.
I hope you'll check out and join a group called MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT. It's a group dedicated to discussing ways we can market ourselves - what works; what doesn't. You’ll find some very interesting ideas and concepts there! And we would appreciate your input. Click here for the link: MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT!
Thanks for your time! I trust our paths will cross soon!
Thanks Adrea. I'm deeply sorry to hear about your mom's voice disorder. If there is anything I could do to help, let me know. To help me continue breathing properly, in order to project, I do quite a few weird things but they are effective. I run or walk at least 4 times per week to help build endurance in my lungs. I also do quite a few vocal warm up excercises I've learned from a Voice Coach here in Orlando and listening to audio from John Saulsburry. I'm no vocal expert, but I do what works best for me.
Anyway, I also wish you well and you'll find plenty of help here from the best voice experts in the world.
Welcome Andrea. It's nice to see someone from Central Fla. on this site. Like you, I am also fairly new. Well....about a month (LOL). There are a lot of great people on this site. Being a former radio DJ, I'd never thought beyond my wildest dreams that I would meet so many legendary voices who are willing to offer their expert advice on how to make it in this industry. This site is an "out of the park homerun". Awesome!
