Ok I'll start things off. I was wonder of all of you. How do you find local work? I have a few KC clients that I have worked for over the years and they keep coming back which is great. Although most of my money is made on the West coast now.
Do you really need a agent here in town or should I just keep doing what I'm doing by making friends with the Production House people?
I was just wondering if a KC based agent is really worth the trouble.
THOUGHTS??

You know Karen, I have just a couple of local clients in KC and really want more, but to be honest I don't think anyone will give me the time of day. Perhaps I'm not aggressive enough with agencies or just don't get "it" when it comes to marketing my voice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And don't get me wrong, Hurst has given me lots of leads, and a few jobs have come my way, but I get so frustrated at hearing the same 5 people on KC Radio spots (agency stuff mostly). And while I'm at it.. I only hear like 4 people on all the TV stuff.. what gives with that?

Don't get down on yourself. PLEASE! You are much better than that. I have lots of ideas for you. If you are going to be at Darcie's party tomorrow night track me down. I'm not a millionare yet but I can safely say that NOW I am making as much as I did in radio. (and not driving 80 miles a day) That's a plus.

I'll see you there, I will be there in the early part of the night.

Karen, Good to see you at the party, sorry I couldn't stay longer, my wife's feet were swelling and of course you know all about that. My apologies for interrupting your conversation with Darcie, it occured to me as we were driving home that I totally interupted that conversation and that was rude. I'll give you buzz on Monday and we can chat .

Hi Karen! Here's what I've discovered in this business - if you can hitch your wagon to a young stud, you'll go a long way. When I first started out I decided that I would team up with some new ad guys that were just getting started in the biz. I gave them great rates and great service because I believed in them. Years later it has well paid off!!! As they grew, so did my business. They took care of me because I took care of them! Now that my biz has grown, I have found that as I develop relationships with agency people, productions houses, and agencies, I open doors that I would have never been able to open on my own!

So my answer to your question is "YES"! Develop those relationships with agencies, productions houses, and even other VO people!

BTW, consider this an RSVP to the party!!!
