Hi all! This is a message from my friend Michelle Ann Dunphy. I'm trying to help her find students for an upcoming workshop by Richard Horvitz on animation voice acting in Dallas. There's more info below if interested and some bonuses! I plan to be there and I hope to see more DFW voice actors there too.
Take care!

Hi Talented Voice Actors!

We are getting close to the registration deadline for Richard Horvitz's Animation Voiceover Workshop in Dallas, Texas. And we are still a few students shy of what we need to fill out this class and make it happen! So, please encourage your friends, spread the word! Remember, for every friend you refer, you get $25 off the total cost of class! Just make sure they mention your name when they send in their e-mail sign up. ALSO, as an added bonus, Voices.com will provide a premium 1 year membership that will be raffled off amongst those attending the class! That's a $300 value.” E-mail Michelle for info: richardhorvitzclasses@gmail.com

Richard’s career as a successful voice over actor includes hit shows such as The Angry Beavers (Daggett), Invader Zim (Zim), the Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (Billy), Ben Ten (Grey Matter) and many, many more, including award winning video games such as Psychonaughts, Ratchett & Clank, and Destroy All Humans.

In his weekend workshops, Richard will help students learn to “play pretend” and to approach their copy in a fun and more instinctive way. Richard has been teaching privately for 10 years, as well as having taught voice over for animation at Cal State Northridge. Class size is kept intimate to ensure that everyone gets adequate time at the mic.

Richard's class schedule for 2009:
New York - September 19th & 20th
San Diego - October 10th & 11th
Dallas - November 14th & 15th

Weekend workshops will run Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch each day. The total cost is $600 for both days. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required to secure your place in class.

Spots are available on first come, first serve basis. Spots will be held for 2 weeks before receiving your deposit. If your deposit is not received within that time, your spot will be given to the next person on the list. Spots in the classes are limited, so it's best to e-mail right away. The remaining amount of $450 will be due two weeks before the workshop weekend. Payment methods include cash or check. Paypal can be arranged, but there is a processing fee.

If you are interested in signing up, please send an email to this email address (richardhorvitzclasses@gmail.com) with the Subject Line "CITY - NAME SIGN UP". For example - "DALLAS - MICHELLE DUNPHY SIGN UP". This will ensure that your e-mail is clearly received and replied to right away. Please include in the e-mail the following information.

- Class/Location you want to take
- Name
- Phone
- Email
- Voice over experience?
- Website address, if you have one

Once your information is received, you will receive a reply with information on where to send the deposit as well as other important class information.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to assist you!

Warm regards,
Michelle Ann Dunphy

You know I started the DFW group here on VU, but we sure are not the most active group on VU....Maybe we don't have the time...hopefully because we're working too much to have time (which is my case unfortunately it's not voice work keeping me busy as the bills have to be paid!!!) I hope we can have more participation or maybe even set up a live semi regular meet up where we can help each other grow and share ideas (is that kumbya I hear in the background?)

Thoughts????

Start the New Year with Bob Bergen’s ADVANCED Animation Voice-Over Weekend Workshop, February 28 and March 1, 2009 in Dallas. This workshop takes you through the entire process of what it's like to audition and record a cartoon!

Each student will have the opportunity to “audition" for up to 15 characters. Based on their "auditions" Bob will then cast and record an episode of the cartoon. Each student will receive an audio copy of the finished product. This is a great opportunity to know what it's like to actually work as a voice-over artist in an animated film. (Previous animation vo technique training with Bob or another coach, or animation vo experience is required to take this workshop.)

10% OFF IF YOU DEPOSIT BY JANUARY 15th! More details are on the link below:

For those of you who haven’t seen this, here’s a review of Bob’s December NYC Workshop in Toonzone Magazine:

Howdy to all in Big D!
A fellow VO talent, Native Texan and resident of the Dallas area checking in on the new group!
I hope to meet all of you soon at one of the local VO meetings.
I am relatively new to the industry and insight on getting into the local market is always a plus. Thanks for creating the group Chuck!
