Hi,
I've been required by a non-profit with which I am about to enter a one-year contract for many programs to carry and maintain $250K of Commercial General Liability insurance. I would appreciate your advice on this matter. I have no employees, I work from my home studio, and I have barely any expenses.
Sincerely,
Lance Blair
Why do they want you to have general liability insurance?? One of the reasons I know of why companies or non profits want a "certificate of insurance" from their "vendors" is so they can prove they are not employees, but rather are independent contractors. In any event, since you have a home studio with no employees, it shouldn't really cost that much to get business insurance.
