Why I Need an iPad.

Hi Frank,

 

So far, the only use I've found with the iPad has been to read copy off of my music stand. Works great for longer narrations, as I don't have to turn the pages (and it's silent!)

 

Did Apple add a USB port to the iPad 2? If someone here can show me how to plug my MBox (or a USB mic) into my iPad I'm all ears!

I cannot make the argument. I can say that an iPad or other tablet type device could be fun, cool, and hip but not quite ready for prime time recording. A useful adjunct, yes. let evolution take it's course and time will tell. -Barry.

There is a reason studios and home studios exist . . .a controlled recording environment. Sure there are stories of recording in hotel rooms, cars and rv's, pool houses and and in a real pinch with a compliant client, sure; certainly not the norm. Clients, editors, agents all want to hear clean professional reads and auditions. hard to accomplish consistently on the run done by hook or crook. Good luck ! -Barry.
