I just finished recording the voice of Babu for the upcoming The Mighty Jungle Online Game for Tribal Nova. This gig was won via an audition from Voices.com so I know I was up against a good number of very talented folks. I've heard some of the other folks auditions for this, so it was a great honor and a surprise to land such a cool gig. Babu is a fun character so I really got a chance to have a good time voicing him. Also, I had the extreme pleasure to be directed by Katrina Walsh who is the Producer of The Mighty Jungle CBC kids show as well as many other shows. At first the amount of dialog that was presented seemed a bit daunting at about 70 pages or more, for which they had booked out 2 x 4 hours recording sessions with me. But, due to my due diligence to research the character and learn all that I can about him ( I remember Tara Strong talking about this when she approaches a character) I was able to knock out the entire script in just over a couple of hours. Katrina was very surprised at the speed I was able to get through the script and said that it was unheard of in her experience. Heck, when you are just having fun and keep a positive attitude everything seems to fall into place which is something I learned from Rodney Saulsberry. I could do gigs like this all day every day.

Once the game is online, I'll post a link so everyone can hear my handy work. Hopefully this leads to even more Game gigs in the future.

And then on the same day in the afternoon, I had my first On Camera audition for a nationally televised gig. At the audition, I mentioned that I worked in Voice Overs and the producers became very interested in my voice. They had me read the Pitch for the product in various Pitchman style reads and mentioned the late great Billy Mays as an example. After a few reads they told me that they do a number of national spots and were looking for a new voice and thought mine might be what there were looking for. I gave them my cards and a token magnet calendar with my VO contact info on it before I left and they said they'll check out me demos. If all goes well, I'll get a chance to be on camera for the gig as well as voice the VO for it. That would be cool.

Well, I had a good day yesterday. I sure look forward to more like this down the road.

Thanks for the opportunity to boast a bit Bettye. Its been a long and bumpy road for me, so it really feels good to be able to post something like this.

Congeratulations Jon. And thanks for the link. Oh don't ever think you are "boasting" when you speak of professional success. I have a paper I wrote that actually concerns "Don't be afraid to brag." It's called "self promotion" and in every business area, we must do it, advertise. That's what it is. Best of luck and keep in touch! Bravo!

Forgive me everyone if I've been more absent lately. Our beloved Chow dog was killed by a boarding facility here in Dallas by leaving him out in the brutal Texas heat too long and I've been so sad, just heartbroken. I'm back. Slowly recovering and trying to find new "baby." We are huge dog lovers. Sammy was four years old, a beautiful dog, and totally healthy as the autopsy showed. Plus, a dear voiceover friend and pro, Doug Saye, passed away of a stroke late June and we loved him. I'm back and we're going to try to make this horrible place that killed my sweet baby stopped before the kill other dogs.

After reviewing my thoughts about this, Bettye, I'll take Phillip's high road and hold the jumbled mass of passion at bay-- my wish is for justice, but more for your emotional peace. No doubt both will come.

Oh, Bettye, that is truly heartbreaking. As someone who is owned by her dog and also had a bad boarding experience, my heart goes out to you!

thank you everyone for your kind and wonderful condolences. I still cry over Sammy's murder...yes, murder, not death is the right word. Yes, the circumstances. Terrible. Thank you everyone. The good news is that we now have a rescue dog adopted two days before she would have been killed in the shelter. She is a love. Here is her photo. And I've saved three friend's dogs when they needed new homes in the past two weeks. I have quite a good network of animal lover friends now. And also, my husband and I managed to donate and also spread the word about a darling dog hit by a car who now is getting his operation on back leg ($1800) and between us and our friends we made the payment to the vet. So little "Chance" will be walking again and now we need to find him a home. A labrador retriever golden. He is at the EastLake Clinic in Dallas or people could email me if wanting to adopt here in Dallas.

Okay, I'll brag a little! My agent called me to ask my availability for a booking - it didn't sound familiar, so I said "did I audition for this one?" She replied, no, you don't need to, we just know you'll be right for this! So the next day there I was recording a Time Warner vo for a TV commercial. Love it when that happens. It feels good when you've established yourself enough so that people just know and trust you! My 9-year-old son is especially excited about it when he sees it!
