I must admit that "life in the box" can drive us a bit cooky, so in my endless quest of daily quotes I've found one the may suit us all....

"If a man insisted on always being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it."

— Herodotus

Thanks, Zurek, for affirming for all of us our basic intrinsic need for fun and relaxation --especially for those of us who have chosen a profession requiring that we spend a great deal of our time working alone, separated from our fellow human beings. We must all, for the sake of our physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual health, "strive to be happy"!

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labours and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

One of my favorites, George. Thanks for posting!
Amen, my brother.
I've always liked a quote from Oscar Wilde (saw it on a refrigerator magnet): "Life is too important to be taken seriously."

I agree: it's important not to be business-minded all the time. Even if we're having fun in the studio, it's not the same as doing something completely unrelated to our work.

I find it a shame that we must live a "life in the box;" in this day and age, everything is so solitary. It used to be that we went to travel agents for airplane tickets--now, we go to the internet. Used to be asked someone for help. Now we have other resources. And it used to be that we recorded VO's with people. With honest-to-god, living, breathing, right-in-front-of-you people. This is such a time of separation that it's important we come together in any way we can. This forum's no exception.

I have always liked this one from motivational speaker Brian Tracy

"The great breakthrough in your life comes when you realize that you can learn anything you need to learn to accomplish any goal that you set for yourself. This means there are no limits on what you can be, have or do."

This is one I like...

‎"the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best"
