I have just joined this site and without asking I was publicly (negatively) critiqued by another member. People need to realize that critique is fine if it's solicited. Even then, if all you have to say is something negative, it can be hard to deal with if nothing positive is mixed in. It's totally inappropriate to post this here as well unless I had asked it to be.
A private email is more appropriate with something like that.
I
I had a quick listen and your demos seem just fine to me. I expect the person offering the critique is what my friends in Ireland call an "eejit". The only critques you need are pay cheques as they tend to be positive ones.
Just curious (and I have NOT listened to the demo or demos or whatever ever we are talking about here..no clue what they even are (commercial, narration, promo, image...etc) but I did see that there are radio image bits mixed in with commercial stuff?? Philip>> do you not subscribe to the school of thought that demos should be focused on one thing?? Just asking...I personally have many demos...some focused and a couple kind of a mish mash>> just wondering what Dr. 12K in one day feels on this topic>>>> lol
Lisa, it is bad enough sometimes when we listen to those little voices in our heads (critiquing ourselves). Don't listen to those voices either. Your demos sound pretty good to me.
Hey Lisa,
I totally agree...unsolicited critiques.....not cool....unsolicited praise? WELCOME!
Don't let that experience color your opinion of VU. You'll find that this is a very supportive community of artists.....you can see that from some of the responses you've gotten. Zurek has worked really hard to keep things on a positive note.
...and WELCOME to VU!
